When you are looking for a new (to you) boat, it is highly recommeded that you have a marine survey performed.
The Marine Surveyor will inspect all of the vessel's systems for compliance with Federal Regulations and Industry Standards, including the hull's structural integrity, the fuel system, the exhaust system, the electrical system, the domestic water system, the sanitary system, the thru hull fittings, the propulsion system, anchoring system, navigation equipment, etc. The vessel will be examined using non-destructive or non-obtrusive methods. After the vessel examination, the Marine Surveyor will prepare a written and pictorial report that documents any findings and deficiencies. The report will address each item by the applicable USCG regulation CFR33 & CFR46, the NFPA, or ABYC standards and recommended practices. The survey will also list all safety equipment and extra equipment that would affect the value, or the safe operation of the vessel. In most cases the cost of the survey pays for itself when costly items are discovered. Surveys are often required for insurance companies and sometimes lendors. With the hurricane season upon us, it is a good way to document your boat in case of a loss. AS ALWAYS....ALL Spearboard members recieve 10% off of surveys. I also perform engine compression checks and oil analysis sampling. Visit my website for further information. If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact me.
