It would be more informative if a person were to go to the site themselves. There is a fair amount of reading that would be too lengthy for me to post. Just go to the raymarine webpage, look for the update link and choose the Dragonfly. I tried to down load to a mini card but had some issues so I was not successful, have to try again. The only reason that I posted that was just to inform those that would be interested.

I know some of you have gopros.... Can you post up some video of the views at cruising speed? All of the demos and videos show the screens at idle speed on a flat day. What does it look like when your running along in 60 -100 feet? I don't need awesome views on spots I already have a number for... I want to know how well it searches and views at speed. The new DF 7 looks like it will run $900 which is an awesome price for what it does but considering the low power and that it barely reads to 800 feet leaves me to worry if it can show burn on hardbottom at speed or show a defined edge on a 2 foot plate running 28 knots. I really want to want one of these for a backup but I can't seem to find anyone to provide screen shots at speed.

I don't have any experiance on a yak but I would think that if mounted correctly, the lower speed that you travel in would be a big plus. I believe that the 600fsw would be pushing the egde of the envelope of it's depth capabilities. It is sensitive enough to pick up your fishing line in the water so you should be able to spot much larger targets. Remember that a transducer shoots a signal as an upsidedown ice cream cone so the deeper the water, the better the spread and you'll see more area. In a boat that is 30 fsw, you will only see about the width of the transum with a 16 degree transducer. It's easy to ride right by a target not knowing that math. Set it up on a sheet of graph papaer, you'll see what I mean. If you try the Fly out, give us a post and let us in on the results.
