mashpee area divers

i just secured a sick rental on cape in the pomponesset area. i will be living there starting september first through the next year, i was wondering if anyone on here dove out of that area, and if so are there any good shore dives from that beach? also to fellow traveling spearo's its a three bedroom house and i have two spare beds so anyone who would like to come up and dive the area i will be happy to put you up.

2 of my favorite dive spots are out of mashpee. im their litteraly once a week from may 1st to oct 1st. your going to want to dive the boulderfield off of popponesset beach. itsvery hard to find but well worth it. also, oregon beach should still be producing large blue fish in the 7+ pound range for about another week. i got 9 of them abou a week ago. oregon beach. third jetty to your right, if you park in the lot. swimm out about 150 yards and youll see why they hang out there. ( i dont mind giving up this spot because alot of people wont shoot bluefish.... but i think its the funnest fish to shoot, and if you cook them right, are pretty good table fair.
good luck bud.

I would also suggest getting a shellfishing permit so you can go after oysters and clams come Fall

If you can get to them, the jetties out of Waquoit Bay aren't bad for some black sea bass, fluke, and an occasional large tog. You need a boat/kayak to get to them, or a willingness to carry your gear a good distance. I think it's close to a mile walk.

i dove those jetties. boat traffic is crazzy. you can only walk to one of them, the other is on an island only accessable at dead low tide. shot a few scup, and 2 blues there. didnt see anything else. bottom is 99% sand 1 % small grassy rocks. i took the boat to get there out of mashpeeeeee. lots of good flounder spots if you head towards chatham.

I'm down in Marstons Mills near every weekend. PM me, I've been looking for some spots on the south side of the cape but haven't found anything productive. Spend most of my time along the canal jetty in samich,

Re: mashpee area divers

yeah its not a far move for me i live in plymouth now and dive alot on both ends of the canal. but i have yet to explore the south coast. when i get back in september, the commercial taug season opens :-), its a fun way to make a little extra cash, and it will be nice to have some new spots. thanks for everyones information i will definitely be sending out some PM's as my return date gets closer. and of course i will be having a welcome home bash for myself, spearo's welcome, bring beer or fish for the grill.
