Poseidon/Neptune Sculpture
Re-posted from General: This is a sculpture I have been working on.
It is of Poseidon/Neptune, that I might worship the idol for prosperous diving. The wax (brown microcrystalline) is close to finished - starting to consider casting and a few other (brainstorm) things: 1. Adding a trident - to be cast or fabricated separately - style? 2. Adding speared prey below him - a mutant tog, or a bass or for some reason a goliath grouper seems fitting, but I'm unfamiliar with that fish. 3. Adding an ocean environment base - is it a reef where the prey has been speared, is there no prey and just a flat bottom or a couple of rocks and he is just floating in the current? I don't know; this is my brainstorm 4. Added prey/base to be cast in metal, or fashioned in ceramic? Thanks for any feedback |

Thanks, Crusty!
Once in metal, I could make a latex mold to cast reproductions of this piece in whatever. I'm thinking I'd like to continue working in this style with different materials so maybe this will be part of a series. Down the line I would def trade art for art - or fishing secrets. I know you got both. |

Re: Poseidon/Neptune Sculpture
I see:
1. Kelp holding the tail of the merman over a rock base 2. An indigenous fish with a primitive gnarly trident. |

Re: Poseidon/Neptune Sculpture
Roger that! Dead on man - kelp idea can be an interesting design element serving an important structural purpose.
Fish will be a big, nasty tog-father with a gnarly trident pinning him down. Might go with a 3D scan of the piece either bf or after bronze casting, and reproduce it in a variety of materials ( props to Tin Man ). Thanks for helping the brainstorm. |
