NORTH ATLANTIC SPEARFISHING CLUB
SAKONNET OPEN MEET SUNDAY SEPT 22 Meet starts and ends at the Sakonnet Point harbor/boat ramp in Little Compton, 9am-2pm. This is the third meet in the series. If you have not been diving at Sakonnet Point, this is one of the prettiest places to dive. With lots of small islands, and rocky structure, this place holds a lot of fish! Come join us! Registration: 7:30-8 am Entry fee: $20 to be paid when you register. *** Competitors- 2019 season will waive the below requirement. You must belong to the North Atlantic Spearfishing Club to compete in an "Open" tournament. Exception: New competitors are allowed to participate in their first "Open" without being a a member of the North Atlantic Spearfishing Club. Their score would count for the meet, but would not be awarded North Atlantic points. Any subsequent "Open " tournament participation would require club membership.*** FISH: All fish will be 2" over the RI State DEM regulations minimum size. Bag limits will follow current State DEM and/or Federal regulations. Fish not governed by a minimum size shall be at least 12 inches in total length. Size and bag limits will be based on 2019 State DEM regulations. RULES: Tournament rules will conform to the Underwater Society of America's (USoA) requirements for rules pertaining to the National Skindiving Championships. Briefing will be held prior to the start of the tournament. SCORING: One point is awarded per fish and per pound. The maximum weight to count towards scoring is 20 pounds. Therefore the maximum points per one fish are 21 points. EQUIPMENT: This tournament will be a paddleboard (kayak) tournament with only muscle powered transportation being allowed. A diver's flag (12"x12"minimum) and personal USCG approved flotation device are required by state law. A dive knife is also required. GPS is allowed. TRAVEL TIME: No travel time for this tournament.
