Alaska spearfishing trip (looking for buddy).
Hi,
I'm trying to arrange a trip in August this year and I'm looking for buddy (buddies) who can share rental and charter with me. Salmon is one of the favorite fish in my family. Unfortunately you cannot legally shot them anywhere close, and I don't do R&R. I found out, that you can shot salmon in Alaska, and that is my dream spearfishing destination since. It is not most popular place for spearfishing, but few reviews I saw were all stunning. Halibut, lingcod and salmon of cause! I think, most people concerned about cold water diving, and I don't thing that should be a problem for New England spearo. Average water temps in August ~53 degree in Anchorage, AL and 55 degree around Ketchikan. Come on! I spend two hours last weekend in 46 degree waters of Newport with no problem at all. In 7mm suit we can dive whole day long. I would like to keep conservative budget. Quick search shows flights from Boston at around $450 round trip, AirBNB rental (entire house/condo) ~$100-130 a night. I'm thinking about one week trip. I'm hoping to find relatively inexpensive charter, but open for alternative solutions (shorediving, etc.). I'm currently in touch with one of the captains at Ketchikan, going to have more info tonight. Anyone wants to join me on this adventure, please let me know Miro. |

That sounds pretty sweet! Unfortunately I’ll be spending my August down here.
Wife and I bought a new boat last year and want to get the most of it. If you ever want to head out pm me. Keep it in Westerly, fish and dive RI coast, WH, and of course BI. |

You can also fly to Norway fairly inexpensive from Boston? If I were looking for a Cold Water Spearfishing Destination Norway would be #1 on my list.

Yes, but COD, Pollack, other tasties, and Huge Kveite. Plus the Norwegians are super friendly people. There's a few on here you could put out a feeler.
