SFD dives the Florida Lobster Season

I Got an invitation from a Dive Buddy that lives in Florida to experience the Florida Lobster season; which runs from August 6th through March 31 of each year. Even though they've lived in Tampa for years, they have never tried diving down the Florida Keys.

Even though it looks pretty straight forward on YOUTUBE; Trying to hold your breath underwater, in poor visibility, while fighting currents, and using foreign equipment to extricate very wary crustaceans from caves filled with Crabs, Sharks, and Moray Eels is EXTREMELY challenging.

This is all after the Captain anchors in the first spot, and lets you know that peak Bug season WAS in September, and NO ONE had caught any Lobsters on the last FIVE LOBSTER TRIPS!

Let me know what you think of this Video

Nice video. How did the Florida lobster taste compared to our spinys?
Cheers, Kadam

You should try this: Jerked Lobster http://www.spearboard.com/showthread.php?t=132106

My favorite recipe for spiny lobster. These days I do actually freshly grate the nutmeg and allspice, and I do like to split the lobster in half for a little extra head meat. Makes a nice plate presentation too.

Way to get it done! Here's a good video from one of our members showing some proper net & tickle technique, maybe for next time

Very nice! Thanks for sharing. We never were taken to any spots like those!
