DIY Enclosed Rail Options?

I'm building a gun and would love some options for an enclosed rail.

UHMW Enclosed tracks from Neptonics are the only ones I can find online and while they are pretty much what I am looking for, they're expensive (starting at $48+shipping)
http://www.neptonicsystems.com/track.htm

JBL True-glide stick on rails are a great price but they aren't enclosed.

Riffe has an enclosed track kit for it's Metal Tech guns but it looks specific to Metal Tech barrels:

EWARD4 has a very well documented explanation of pouring and drilling out his own enclosed rail but I don't have the tools for that.

I've read passing references to Delrin, Teflon, and UHMWPE but no specific recommendations for building your own enclosed rail. Anyone out there have any suggestions, URLs where there are enclosed rails I may have overlooked?

Re: DIY Enclosed Rail Options?

On Daryl's enclosed track guns he only inserts a delrin section in the muzzle end of the track to help re-enforce the end.

Any more detail on what he does? I checked his Web site and couldn't find any close up photos of the rails.

Re: DIY Enclosed Rail Options?

If you are tool limited, the Neptonics track is the easiest and cheapest way to build an enclosed track gun.

Re: DIY Enclosed Rail Options?

I'll sell you my Neptonic 5/16" enclosed track router bit (1/2" shank) for $25 + shipping

....actually not. Those router bits are pretty specific to the track you are installing. Delrin and UHMW plastic [with the time you invest in cutting and installing it yourself] end up being more expensive (not to mention the PITA factor) than if you just buy the track & bit from Josh. That's why he sells this stuff. To make it easy for the home gunbuilder.....

He's in Alaska this week, but if you give him a call next week (# is on the website), he'll be happy to steer you in the proper direction.

Building a gun is a considerable investment, both in time, and materials. Cheaping out on something like the track that guides the spear shaft into the fish you hope to kill is a bad idea.

.....otherwise, build an open track and save yourself the hassle (Josh also sells those bits)...
