Re: Dusky Project

Beautiful boat!

Does anybody happen to know what year Dusky fixed their stringer design? There’s a good deal on a 1999 278 near me.

Re: Dusky Project

I understand shit happens. I had an old 25-6 full cabin with the tall windshield with a diesel in it for 12 years. I newer had an issue with the hull. I had a shop in the marina then, sanded every of that hull, I would have noticed. The floor did rot. There were two more in the racks, never heard anything. To this day I am sorry I sold it for a bigger boat.

Re: Dusky Project

My kid sent me a ad for a 25 ft Dusky from the mid 80s a couple days ago.I love their hull design. The 25 rides really nice in sloppy weather if you dont go crazy.
Downside is in the 80s they had bad rot issues and their electrical looked like a rats nest.I have friends that had the 17,20 and the 25.
By the mid 90s I did the Miami boat show and was in a day early for the trade.Dusky had a better quality boat than Mako.Smooth gelcoat outside and inside the hatches, neat organized wiring and reasonably priced.
It has to be a labor of love to rebuild a boat.I have looked hard at a few Potter built Seacrafts and considered rebuilding then the rum wore off.
One of my buddies had the 20 and took it out in some pretty nasty stuff for sailfish.Couple buddies had the 25s with the Dusky drive and used the commercially.
We dove out of a beat up 17 Dusky all over the lower keys spearfishing and lobstering.Picture is coming back from Content Keys to Marathon in the 17.
