Re: Found Something Riffe may not be happy about... (wakeboarders?)

It it durable though? the core looks like it would compress and the covering looks like it would fray

At that price, who cares. The 300' will make 3 lines, all for $30. It's disposable if it doesn't hold up.

Let me get this straight. You are trying to spend over a 100 bucks on a wake-boarding line to use as a float line??? Quit trying to over think an alternative, just buy a mako or neptonics float line and be done with it. Also no need to waste money on a brand just to look cool

the core eventually does compress but I got around 3 or 4 years of use out of one float line, probably could have gotten longer out if it if it hadn't been bitten by sharks.

theoretically you could also just reverse it because its the end near the gun that compresses, and get more life out of it

also even with the neoprene compressed it still floats , just not as buoyant

when it wears out you just recycle the tuna clip and swivel to next line

At what point in my thread did I say I wanted to "look cool"? The riffe spectra floatline came back with tremendous reviews but with one downfall, the price. So, I searched for a floatline comparable to it but with a better price tag. looks had nothing to do with it. I have used a boat bumper and anchor line for a float system. So if you think im basing my search and decision on looks, then your sorely mistaken. All i wanted to accomplish with this, is a comparable floatline to riffes without the price; as aforementioned.

Re: Found Something Riffe may not be happy about... (wakeboarders?)

you won't want to use that wakeboarding rope..........

as for most tournament-quality skiing ropes, those "takeoff" sections are
not removable....... you just double-loop the section you want to ski
on at the ski pole and you are able to select the length distance you want
to ride on......

the main difference between regular tournament slalom ropes, and wkaeboard
ropes is the wakeboard ropes are made with line that has little to no stretch.
the key to wakeboarding is non-stretch line...... slalom ropes can have a bit
more stretch....

so, finding spectra, or similar line in bulk would be a better choice......

Don't get me wrong, Riffe is some good stuff for sure - But unfortunately most of their stuff is waaay out of the range of my "married, three kids, wife in school finances"... Look hard and there are lots of things out there comparable - if not better - and for much less.

I recently through searching my ass off found an exact (internally) watch as the Omer MIK 1 for 89 bucks online. Works perfectly - does all the Omer does and then even some - Now Omer is a great company - But why should I spend 350 bucks on a watch I can get for less than 100 because it says Omer on it and has a different case? Check this - These bastards should send me a case of watches since I promote these so much! http://www.wristwatchreview.com/2012...keling-master/

I think the prices for some brand name products are rather exorbitant to say the least. Almost like high priced Lawyers fees or certain prescriptions - It's easy to corner a small market - But this market has grown rather large just recently - And not all of us have silver lined pockets.

Spearfishing is no longer a sport ruled by the affluent, the brave, or the hungry - Thanks to companies that make "affordable" quality gear, anyone with the desire can do it these days!
That dive comp is ugly as h€\\. Don't get me wrong I'm ordering one right now, I'm just gonna have to pull my sleeve over it when people or around.
