Re: Double Roller Trigger for Pathos handle, Ermes Sub

Hey Triton, how big of a shaft will this mech accept? Will it fit a 7.5 or an 8mm?
Thx

I'm sure not all handles will do this and it took me less than 10 minutes with a dremel to get it mounted.

If anyone wants to get themselves one to try out.....

Can these be made to fit in a D'Angelo 1 handle? Or only in a D2?

Re: Double Roller Trigger for Pathos handle, Ermes Sub

Got the pathos trigger installed in about 5 minutes. I did not have to dremel near the base as Triton did, just dremel (roto zip) out for the line release. I love how smooth it is. Shafts seem to engage with precision. I did not jump in the pool as my pool is still chilly and i didnt have time to suit up. The default is line release on the right side. I think I will take a few minutes and switch it to the left side as the muzzle on my carbon laser works better for left. The mono has to be re-rigged because the length is not long enough from the stock pathos set up. The ermes trigger takes 7.5 and 8mm shafts. I even engaged a few american shafts and they seem to lock in. No shots fired yet. Have to wait til I get back from Orlando for the kids spring break. Looks great so far.

Glad to hear it went easy for you! I've installed a couple more now and have not had to file at the base of the trigger on either of those

Hmmm ... interesting idea. For sure it can be done and it is just a matter of seeing if there is enough demand for something like that to make it worth the effort. I still haven't had time to put this trigger through its paces and am interested to see how people trying it out think. The concept is pretty revolutionary and if it works it really will be a game changer. I will try and see if I can put up some computer images to show how this new trigger works, but basically the idea is that the shaft sear tip has a circular area that holds a roller in place. It cannot escape as the only way to insert the roller is through the side of the shaft sear before it is installed in the box. Because of that, you don't need two arms to hold the roller in a "wheel" type configuration and instead the roller just "floats" in the box. This alone saves about 4mm in required box thickness and thus it can be installed in thinner boxes like those on pipe guns. The back roller is the same as the normal double roller but of course since inside the box you have only 7mm the roller is much less than the conventional double roller. In computer simulations it seems that it works really well for even the highest two band loads and Mario has been testing it in real spearfishing with 3 bands with excellent results. But again, it is a completely new and revolutionary concept so am interested in what people that are using it think.

Re: Double Roller Trigger for Pathos handle, Ermes Sub

I had about 30 something shots with the trigger yesterday. Shots where flawless. I encountered a small issue where the back roller skewed but this can be remedied with a slightly longer axle pin for that particular roller. It can happen when you hold the mech upside down without a shaft in place. Anyone else having this issue?

@Spearq8. I would rather see you filming a pool test then making a 3d animation. The mechanism is simple enough for anyone to understand and we can learn much more from a pool test with a side view. I have no uw camera to my disposal or I would do it myself.
