Re: Quick release Gopro mask mount

Marginatus

I ordered one of your mask mounts, do you have a list of which
masks will work with it? I am sure others would like to know as
well. Bye the way, you did a very nice job on it.

Thanks,

Dean

Hi Dean,
Thanks!
It's hard to make a list since there's so many models around, sometimes people ask me about mask from brands I didn't even heard about... The main factor to make it work is the fact that a hole needs to be drilled in the frame. To make this happen and maintain the mask seal, the frame should be isolated from the skirt in the place where the hole needs to be drilled (above the nose). So basically if you can put your finger between the frame and skirt, you're good to go (maybe I should make some pics of this). When people contact me, I do my best to see if each mask is a good candidate.
Hope the mount arrives soon.
Regards

Dean0521---I had the same question of what masks were COMPATIBLE with BOLTING the marginatus quick release mounts to. The list of masks that I am POSITIVE will work are:
Beauchat Mundial
Omer Abyss
Omer Alien
Omer Bandit
Cressi Superocchio
Cressi Nano----this is the mask I chose. (thank you jstliver09 for all ur help ) To my knowledge, the Nano is the smallest volume mask that is compatible with the bolt up method for the marginastus quick release mask mount AND the Nano fits me perfectly.
Hope this helps

EDIT---I just noticed while I was working on my new Cressi Nano mask to mount the GoPro, that the Cressi Nano mask is PATENTED. The Nano has a US Pat # stamped on the bottom right lens skirt.

Re: Quick release Gopro mask mount

Hi all,
I've had some PM asking about availability...
Right now I have no mounts available. If interested, please let me know and I'll keep you updated as I'll make a new order as soon as I have enough interest (number of parts) to justify an order.
Wish you all a great 2014 start (some are already rocking 2014).

Re: Quick release Gopro mask mount

If you're ready to buy, send marginatus a PM. I'm on the list, but he needs some more people to commit to buying, before he does the next production run.

Re: Quick release Gopro mask mount

I used a ss nylon lock nut on my GoPro / mask mounting like this,(in 4-32 size)
http://www.homedepot.com/s/stainless...5206-32?NCNI-5
These nuts work great around salt water as they: are SS, do not require a lock washer and almost never seize up with salt water corrosion.
I also might suggest trying a couple different bolt head types to find the one that protrudes LEAST towards the spearos nose. Small volume masks like the Nano put the nose bridge of the mask very close to the divers nose.
Hope this helps

PM---does anyone know of any other masks out there that will work with the "bolt on" application to add to the list of masks in post #63 to help other spearos?

Good advice! I would recomend hex button head screws...
Beauchat mundial mask are a good fit too.

Re: Quick release Gopro mask mount

I got my marginatus quick release GoPro mounts today and they look GREAT.
Service from margintus was great also.
If anyone is looking for a quick release GoPro mount, these look great IMO.
