Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
Dove east side of Jamestown just south of the north end Saturday morning and the viz was a very clear 8-10 feet and water temp 59 deg. It was about an hour before High. Best viz I've seen all season, even after all the rain. The last time I dove there about 7 weeks ago the viz was a murky 2 feet.

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
Wow, best vis you've seen there all season...
Two of us bailed on Sat Jamestown plans because figured high seas were stirring everything up, killing viz. Seemed a good call after seeing that LI sound 0.0 ft viz post. Anyone offer ideas on how to predict viz? |

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
The bad viz this year was mostly due to the plankton bloom. Now all of that is behind us and the dead plankton has either washed out to sea or settled on the bottom. Areas that get stirred up by rough seas will still have bad viz but in the bay where the seas are not bad like 1-2 feet I would think that the viz wouldn't be so bad. Also near the end of incoming tides is always best. I think also that the viz will clear up more quickly once things have calmed down since the plankton is gone.

Went out yesterday and tried to find some viz. None found along Waterford and Niantic CT shoreline. Mud.

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
Sunday, Striper_Rider and Capt_T and I hit up Rockport MA. Tough wind/whitecaps and 54 degree water. I saw one small tog, Will picked a bug, and T claimed that he saw a seal.
Oh, there was some harbor pollack too and bait. Cold though. Vis was 20+ feet, if you could see through the millions of jellies! |

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
Hit Groton, Ct on Saturday and vis was about 8 feet. I was able to shoot a limit of togs in short order. Of course, Sandy is going to throw us a curveball and I expect things to turn to mud again.

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
I dived in Newport on Saturday: calm before the storm and decent visibility - took a couple of togs.

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
Dove Saturday around Fishers and the viz was 3 to 5'.
Went to dump some racks in the Thames today and the viz was the best I've ever seen it. Swear. |

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
Was this before 20 or more boats got wrecked on Pequot Ave? Cause it was tough to see through that particular debris field after Sandy left.

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread
Had about 6' of vis in the eastern sound today. Three tog landed, missed a fourth on an easy shot. Plent more fish seen that I couldn't get a shot at.
