Re: AR-15 style speargun handles
Curious how the frame is attached to the grip?

Re: AR-15 style speargun handles
The grip has a matching pocket that mates to the area on the back of the frame with the tapped hole. A 1/4"-20 socket head cap screw pulls the grip up tight onto the back of the frame. But because of the geometry, the bolt really doesn't take the recoil force. It's sort of like a mortise and tenon arrangement, with the bolt only serving to secure the two together.
If you saw the video that I posted earlier in this thread, where I smacked it with a 2x4, you can see the strength of the arrangement. |

Re: AR-15 style speargun handles
These handles look awesome! Has anyone use one for a euro-style timber gun yet? I wont have time for a month or so but I reckon these would be perfefct, just add your favourite mech.

Re: AR-15 style speargun handles
Yes, a couple of people have made some beautiful euro style rear handled guns. Maybe some will share the pictures . . .
I still have a bunch of these available, by the way, with a couple of different grip choices. Last edited by Tin Man; 10-06-2010 at 07:21 PM. |

Re: AR-15 style speargun handles
What are the dimensions of the handles? I mean LxWxThickness of the mounting plate. Im trying to plan the layout of my first gun build and I would like to use your handles.

Re: AR-15 style speargun handles
The mounting plate is 5-5/16" long, by 1-3/16" wide, by 1/4" thick. The trigger slot is 9/32" wide (to accomodate the 1/4" wide Neptonics trigger). The push rod slot in the top is 5/32" wide and 0.145" deep for a 1/8" diameter push rod.

Re: AR-15 style speargun handles
For those who want to use these handles on Wong guns, you will probably find something similar to the picture below. I know that Daryl uses a small staple to retain the push rod, and this will need to be removed for my handle frame to fit. The top of the handle frame has a slot that will then contain the push rod, as long as the rod is not larger than 1/8". I'm not sure if Daryl uses a larger push rod on some guns.

Re: AR-15 style speargun handles
Where can you buy the ATI strikeforce grip? Also, do you know what mech Zen used. Looks like it has a unique profile to accomodate a nice rake with your killer handles/grips!
I'd like to pick one up! Matt
