Re: Building a gun? Start here:
Probably b/c Rich isn't a sponsor...
Really though... This thread is an awesome resource for this forum, perhaps the second best thread on spearboard (first being "Spearing on the West Coast of Oz" obviously). The California section has like 20 stickies but it's not okay for this forum to have one? |

Re: Building a gun? Start here:
I would guess one of the gun manufacturers that is a sponser said this thread was taking away business because it is helping more spearos build their own guns
It really doesnt make sense to un-sticky this thread, Tony...Whats the deal? It really is a usefull bank of info!

I have re-read this thread plenty of times trying to hash out my plan for a speargun build. |

Re: Building a gun? Start here:
No one knows how to use the bookmark feature in their favorite web browsers?
I actually asked that it get deleted, but the moderators and I settled on just un-sticking it. There's a couple reasons, but my main concern was for someone(s) getting hurt or doing something stupid with information contained herein. I can just see some mom & dad dragging Tony into civil court and the whole website getting shut down. Second was the fact that hardly anyone bothered to contribute to it's maintenance and updates, and it's become old and stale. Lots of good build threads, and tips & tricks posts fell through the cracks over the years because no one else thought it might be a good idea to include the links here. It's not my responsibility to moderate this thread and I asked on several occasions for others to feel free to include what they thought was handy. The only time anyone's posted in it in the last several months was to cry about it being un-stuck. The only reason I posted this thread in the first place was so that I could clean out 90% of the Spearboard bookmarks in my own web browser.

Re: Building a gun? Start here:
Rich, I don't think this thread needs to keep growing. If it does it will get so big nobody will be able to find the link they want. It should be more of a beginners guide. Keep it simple. Besides if we unsticky it, think of how many more times your going to have to tell people to use the search function
All most people need is a few informative links to get started...like Praters first build. Honestly, I think we could get rid of a lot of the info, like how to build your own carbon tubes. A guy doing his first build isn't going to be doing that sort of thing. As for a civil suit, its sad but I could see something like this happening. Cant there be a disclaimer or something? "Use power tools at your own discretion" Some people are morons these days...
