"Safety shear holster" - on the fly
A friend once said something about how "It's the Indian, not the bow".
So while in a hurry packing for a spearing trip to Mass this past week, I decided I wanted to bring shears along much too late to buy something, and this was a broke-college-kid-trip anyway. Cut out milk jug(aka poor man's Kydex) handle and warm in oven for several minutes. As soon as it starts to turn from milky translucent to clear, insert shears, and press down firmly around shears against flat surface with a thick towel. Looks like crap, but I already had 4 pounds of musket balls crammed into a bike tire inner tube electric-taped to the weight belt, so how would a little more junk slapped on there cause anymore damage to the already suffering aesthetics? Shears even click firmly into place, due to the safety tip. |

Re: "Safety shear holster" - on the fly
Thanks fellas!
about 30 hours of diving later, it's still holding up! It's a little slippery and kinda slides around where I have it placed. A rubber belt might minimize movement too. Do you heat and form the PVC as well? |
