Re: cabo in shore report

I've been hearing conflicting reports of pargo being here and then not being here. I had to go see for myself. I went with a buddy for an afternoon shoredive. Air was 85, water was 77. We swam a few 100 yards out through a pretty strong incoming tide. Because of the current we spent most of our time and enerygy swimming, trying to stay in the right spot. The viz was not that good either, which made it hard to tell where and what I was dropping down onto. Then, once my eyes adjusted and I got my berrings straight the pargo were already wise and heading for cover. The one shot I took I luckily dropped down onto exactly where I wanted to be. I was able to pull myself next to a ledge to peek over and sure enough, there they were. Three of them just swimming around outside their hole. As I was focusing on one they started getting nervous and began leaving. I took one before it got too far away. My buddy didn't get one yesterday but made up for it by swimming out again today to get one.

So do pargo migrate or do they just move to different depths?

I am going to be down in late June so what kind of fish are often most abundunt that time of the year? My dad wants hoos and dodos, but I really want a big reef fish; grouper, cabilla, or pargo.

btw, do you use any specific shaft tips?

I've been using a West Cost X single flopper tip.

You could see all those fish and maybe roosterfish, jack crevalle, golden trevally, bluefin trevally, amberjack, pompano, triggerfish, parrotfish, mexican goatfish, mexican hogfish, tuna, croaker, chubs, grunts, snook, maybe a sierra, yellow snapper, hawkfish, billfish, and shark.

I'm not sure what the pargo do, but they do seem to be prevelent around this time of year.

Hello! My name is Steve and I'm a pargoholic. My problem could be getting worse but it's something I'll have to work out alone. It's just if I know there's a stash of pargo so close, I find myself not being able to stay away.

I took two more this week.

Re: cabo in shore report

Gracias Maz.

I'll mention that a couple buddies came down to fish 4 days with Eric Brictson and his Gordo Banks Pangas. They invited me to go. I went 2 days and after my first day of fishing, I asked Capt. Antonio if I could bring my speargun along. He said no problem. Next time I went out with them, at the end of the day Capt. Antonio dropped me on top of the pargo spot and I got the first one. There are spearo friendly captains in Cabo. The second bigger pargo I swam out from shore and got it the next day. My buddies caught lots of tuna, wahoo, doroado, roosters, and a marlin, using an assortment of lures and live bait. Also, 30 to 40lb humbolt squid were being caught and used as chunk bait to catch the tuna.

Re: cabo in shore report

I got a good sized cabrilla today, but its nothing compared to the 30+ kg pargo my friend found not 40 ft from the shore.. It was another great day in the east cape!!

Saludos!
