In France/ Corsica all species are allowed except groupers ( Epinephelus family) and it matters little the fish size/quantity. A very proficient spearo go back home after about 6 h(or more) diving with about 6/8 fish on average, each fish weighting about 3/7 lbs. Other than the fish is rare, distrustfull, cunning and deep...It's a hard job for the amateurs! This context is just about the same in Italy, Spain...
In Turkey regulations allow gouper spearing but greater than 2 lbs... forbid using a torch, scuba.

Plan to do a spearfishing trip to Guinea "Guinée" (West Africa) ? There is not any reg. in this country! Except the fact that a civil war is begining, this country has wel known spots for spearfishing.

Plan to do spearfishing in CROATIA?
-only free-diving.
-4 kind of tourist licences: 1 / 3 / 7/ 30 days.
-cost about 12 US$ to 90 US$
-forbidden in natural parks, national parks and harbors.
-from sunise to sunset only allowed.
-torch is forbidden
-buoy is compulsory
-can get a licence in a diving club, diving shop, harbor master's office
-only 2 guns
-max 5 kg fish per day but if one fish is over it is correct
-For Pelagics it needs a special licence about 200US$/ 15 days.but no tuna , swordfish

Plan to do spearfishing in ALGERIA?
-1 year licence cost about 20/ 30 $ US
-over 16 year
-only freediving
-forbidden at night, torch, close (less than 400feet) to boats, nets, beach(people), to sell the fish.
-lobster catch with hands only.
-buoy mandatory.
Spearos have been figthing for months again authorities wich impose a carrying firearms permit!
