Issue Date: April 30, 2024 FB24-024 Rec. closure of red grouper in federal waters of the GOM will close July 1, 2024. Closure expected to be thru the end of Dec. 31, 2024.

ARS open 6/1-7/31 plus weekends in the fall.

No official word on gag season-----yet. Should be pretty soon. Rumors are gags will open Sept. 1, 2024. Also, a very short gag season. Maybe, only 2-4 weeks. On a positive note. For us rec.'s this year. ARS opens the same time as "for hire" (charter and party boats). The last few years its opened up June1 for them and we waited till June 14th. This ARS season is the longest open since state management. 61 day summer season with a 42 day fall season. Fall is mainly open Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a few Holiday days open starting Sept. 1 and ending Nov. 30, 2024. Remember, of "course" the powers to be can always shut down any fish season earlier if they think we reached the catch limit quota early. Just like gags were closed early last year. Just hope the weather is good for gag season.
