I give them a mineral/salt lick and plant winter rye grass for them.Sometimes they get some corn and table scraps for a treat.They mangle my apple trees every year and this year robbed all my grape vines.If my son sees him in the yard he will be jerky real quick.

I had no idea cross bows could get that expensive.
Been away from hunting too long I guess.
I shoot a 20 year old compound in the backyard a couple of times a week just for exercise.
And I still stink at it. Maybe an 8 inch group at 25 yards.....on a good day.

Might want to get a book by Chuck Adams.He is an old bowhunter but the book tells you how to tune your bow and technique for compounds.
I bought a Bear Whitetail 2 70# compound in the mid 80s and it still kills deer.I think I paid around 200 bucks for the package.It will shoot grapefruits at 50 yds .Its a beast compared to my kids Mathews.He paid a little over a grand USED.Its silky smooth on the draw and lots of let off on the cams so it lets you hold a good while without fatigue.He has a slight yaw in the shots that will be taken care of this week.Shoots really tight at 30 and under.Like arrows touching tight.For a $1000 bucks it should!

A few years ago. I dumped a quart zip lock bag of corn kernels in the middle of my food plot before sun rise. Just to see what it might bring in. As it got light. I saw something very small run out to the scattered corn and back into the woods. Finally, there was enough light to see what it was. A small chipmunk that would carry 1 kernel at a time in it's mouth. About 10 min. later. It was still doing the food run. My right eye caught some airborne movement. It was a bald eagle making a fast diving approach. The eagle snatched that chip monk in the blink of an eye and flew off. You never know what you'll see in the woods or ocean. No deer action that morning. But, that bald eagle made my morning and a great memory.

Had 3 Does and a small 6 in range last night, and just the same 6 this morning. Waiting for something bigger.

Shot a coyote tonight! Saw one buck, and two Does.

Temps. in the U.P. have been pretty warm. I land this Sunday afternoon and it's suppose to be a high of 57F.. It'll slowly drop down during the week to a high of 39F. on Saturday and the low at 28F... Last year most of the deer stayed in the swamp till the temperatures dropped below the 40's for a high and the lows below 30F.. At least the temps. will give my body a little time to adjust. Better than leaving here in the mid 80's and landing at 15F. without the wind chill.

Ohio is known for big bucks. You'll get one. Got mine one year on the last day and 10 min. of light left. Thought I wasn't punching a tag that year.

I'm not worried. I hunt my own property/back yard. I have almost 4 acres of food plots for the deer and turkeys back there, it holds a lot of deer. I'm just waiting on something big, or I'll probably not shoot anything and make beef jerky for a year instead of venison. I miss beef jerky!

My youngest son got his first buck today.He bought a ground blind and set up on trails he found himself.Him and his older brother are breaking it down now into deer bits!

Congratulations to your boy! I well remember my first buck when I was 13. The first one always means the most, especially when he did all the scouting and setup himself.

My buddies brother gave my kid permission to hunt a 50 acre section on his property.Son says the place is tore up from scrapes and rubs and smell like piss.
He checked his deer cam and found a huge 7 point and a nice 8 point where he got the 4 point.Now that its been cool enough I guess Ill drag my ass out to the blind to see if I can get one.Temps in the morning have been in the 20s and 30s so not much copperhead or rattler issues.
