Re: Dive Watches(Spearboard Watch thread)
Ok sorry use the Dollar to pay something off. I got everything payed off and a dollar in the bank anyway. It was a joke anyway as I'm sure you knew. It's a nice feeling when it's all paid off.

Re: Dive Watches(Spearboard Watch thread)
Nothing is more happy than a purpose built dive watch that gets to do what it was built for.....

All I can think of is a big grouper sandwich and a pitcher of beer now

I also own a Panerai Lumiror. I think both watches are classics and I can't wait to pass them on to my son when he gets older. Watches are the only "jewelry" I will ever wear so I don't think nice watches are unreasonable but to be honest, on weekends & when I travel, I only wear my G-Shock =) |

Re: Dive Watches(Spearboard Watch thread)
Bought a Seiko Tuna 600 auto a few years after they first came out, used it for scuba as well as spearfishing, then I bought the quartz version after the auto got a bit bashed about, same titanium hull, just a few gold color highlights. A very rugged watch and bulletproof, the lenses tend to scratch, but barnacles and calcareous marine encrustations are sharp, as are jagged rocks (quartz crystals, second only to diamond).
I found the Casio Dive Meter a useful spearfishing watch, only 100 meter rating, but never had it leak, however busted the lug where it anchors the spring bar, but I bought another one not long after the first as a spare, so it got pressed into service. You can see the watch in my avatar. On a whim I bought a Hazard 4 300 meter dive watch with tritium markers and hands, makes the Tuna look small, but no accordion sections in the strap, which is a minus for going over a wetsuit cuff. |

Re: Dive Watches(Spearboard Watch thread)
I watched it as well, lost count of how many parts were removed, some seemed very tiny and wobbly as they were pulled out. I am a patient guy, but could not do that level of precision work, plus you need lots of tools and the right holding jigs and rock steady hands. I am amazed they remember where all the parts go and the correct order of assembly.

Re: Dive Watches(Spearboard Watch thread)
As interesting as the youtube vid that Obligated posted, these were interesting also;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4cKJp5cpn8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVI3uchlto8 Back in 1980 I bought a Rolex Stainless Submariner , recently I lamented it was time to send it off for servicing. When my wife learned what that would cost she said, hell, lets just put that service money and your old watch toward a new Two Tone ( gold and blue) and trade it in...you've always admired that model. So we did. They gave me $4500 for the 40 year old Rolex toward the new one, but she was sticker shocked when the difference in cost was totaled....but she had already committed herself, so I walked out with a two tone. |

Trying to get a bunch of renovations done,boats and camper sold and then I will look at his Rolex. Tudor is a lot more affordable quality watch as an option also.
