Dive Watches(Spearboard Watch thread)
Im thinking of getting matching watches for our 33rd Wedding Anniversary.I want to get nice watches but still be able to dive and sail.I dont want to sound cheap but I would prefer to be at 2 grand for both if thats possible for a quality dress/dive watch.
Any brands that you folks love or hate? Also where to buy.I have till April to find them and put some money away. Just a 411.I had a few Casio G Shocks that have been through hell at work laying block, plastering, etc and still functioned to 130ft with the alarm to get up the anchor line.Tough watch but I wont live through the next year if I get her a G Shock for 33 years of my antics Pics of your watches would be cool too.We can call it the Spearboard Watch thread!

Re: Dive Watches(Spearboard Watch thread)
I have a Citizen Promaster with the Ecodrive and it has been an awesome watch. Not going to get you the oohs and aaaahs like some of those that go for stupid money, if that is what you are going for. But a very quality piece. I have worn out the band and the battery (which I replaced both myself). It is on the lower end of watches but they have some very nice looking stuff in the higher price points.
Of course I don't use it to dive with, I use my Shearwater Petrel. |

I have had a TAG heuer for many years. Bought one for wife at same time. Great watches, reliable, tough and accurate time pieces. Look at the Aquaracer; check Amazon. Fits your criteria for under a grand each and is high quality.

Oris makes beautiful dive watches for both men and women. Here is a link to Oris in Jomashop. They are an unauthorized reseller but have their own warranty. I have bought several $2k+ from them. The Aquis line is right in your price range and a great dive watch.

Still saving for another sailboat so no expensive toys for a while. Nice reel BTW!Neighbor had a 25 Dusky he used to fish for Tilefish using the electric reels.Evidently the older ones you had to manually stop and he got distracted.Stripped all the eyes off the rod!

I guess watches are like fine jewels. I've seen people offering to trade boats, planes, cars etc. for a Rolex piece. I lose too much small stuff... Hard to misplace a boat (or wife). I've seen some good examples of sail-craft converted to trawler lately. The idea appeals... 60hp diesel, no rigging to mess with and a butt-load of room to play below. |

Re: Dive Watches(Spearboard Watch thread)
My buddies center cockpit 45ft sailboat had a 85 lehman.Cheap to run but wind is really cheap until uncle sam figures a way to tax it.
Im getting a trailerable sailboat.I can leave it at the local marina for the season and pull it out to go on vacation or sail other lakes.Typical Hunter 26 or 260 has 8-10 hp 4 stroke outboard.Cant get much cheaper than that.Everyone jokes about Jews being cheap but us Scotts are pretty frugal.
