Nassau Grouper in the Bahamas
I was wondering if Nassau Grouper are legal to spear in the Bahamas. Last week I was told that they are protected year round but recently I have seen a lot of people spearing them. I appreciate any help, thanks.

They are legal to spear in the Bahamas. They are protected here in the states.

Those little bastards know whats going on in the keys, last one i say was a fat nassau with ZERO concern of my presence. He popped his head out of rock, swam out giving a perfect side shot for about 10 seconds and then slowly made his way back in. I pointed my fingers with an imaginary gun and pretended to shoot him the whole friggin time.

Nassau grouper are not always legal to take in the Bahamas, the last few years they've been closing the season for 3 months in the winter.

There is a SEASON on them in the Bahamas that is usually opposite of lobster season over there. Just make sure you know if season is in or not.

As with turtle and conch, you can not bring back any part of a Nassau to the u.s.
