MPA expansion

The FG Commission is seriously considering expanding no fishing areas by 77 square miles.

Net new closures;
- New Southern Point Loma SMR
- New SMR around Point Sal in central California a
- New Mishopshno SMCA,
- New Morro Rock SMR.

The commission and CDFW are reluctant to close controversial areas.
Voice your opinion to fgc@fgc.ca.gov. let them know expending a closed area by even one square foot is controversial.
They promised us the MPAs would be temporary. The closures they could be removed or reduced during the 10 year review.

I have not seen one proposal to relax fishing restrictions.
