2016 Freashwater nationals

Hi all. My name is Byron McMurphy I just wanted to introduce myself. I am currently working on setting up the 2016 freshwater nationals at beaver lake in Arkansas. I am looking for any in put from you all as well as volunteers. Many of you will be hearing from me in the very near future. Currently we will be basing the tournament out of Rodgers Arkansas. There is lots of place to stay, eat and do there. I am looking at having the weight in at prairie creek. I know this is a little ways off but there is lots of planning to do so if have any input or want to help please let me know. We want to show some good Midwest hospitality.

No group in Az will step up and take a National spearfishing meet seriously
If I am wrong put the group together and lets aim for 2017.
You will need 5 leaders that will step up and be responsible for different projects.
The Wy team did a great job this year and ran a first class meet.

I just moved to Laramie, WY from Cali and am looking to get in out in the water and make some friends. I have never done any freshwater diving, but am wanting to learn.

Byron,
Is it still correct that the 2016 Nationals will be at Beaver Lake June 21-23?
If so, do you know location of meet up dock ?

Re: 2016 Freashwater nationals

Who else is coming in for this event??
I know there are 5 New Zealand teams coming in for the international meet.
Can everyone send this web site out 2 all your international contacts that might want to dive?? http://www.2016usoaspearfishingchamp....com/home.html
Only US citizens can dive in Nationals , but there is a big striper dive on the 21st $$$ and the international dive on the 24th. Both, any one can dive in.
The Big striper dive will precede the meet meeting and the International meet is a 2 person meet.

Re: 2016 Freashwater nationals

I'm working out my schedule so I can make this one but have a few questions:
What is everyone planning for boats? I was going to find a house that's on the water but cannot find anywhere that will rent me a boat for the week or even multiple days. (there are a lot of daily rentals)
Are all of the meetings/weigh-ins at or near prairie creek? ( its a big lake and I don't want to find a place to stay that's too far away from the action)

If I can get everything worked out I may road-trip from salt lake and drag my boat and stop at a few lakes on the way there and back. If anyone has any info on cool lakes/places to see i would appreciate it. I was thinking to hit navajo on the way in, maybe somewhere in Oklahoma, and then McConaughy on the way back with a stop somewhere in WY, maybe the Gorge.
Any info is appreciated,
Thanks, Nate

Re: 2016 Freashwater nationals

Where to stay:
Cheapest is probably in the local town there., Rogers, or lots of great camping
But any cabins or rental homes on the south side of the lake in the meet area or near Prairie Creek should work well.
For cabins try the Copper mine lodge or look for the couple rentals home right near there.
This is where we are staying and lots of competitors are staying at the Copper mine. This also makes for a ton of fun dinners and story telling nights. Watch out for the New Zealand team they will keep you up drinking allllllll night.
Anyone one looking for a buddy or clarification of rules speak up.
