Welcome to the Ana Cecilia Shipwreck Artificial Reef in Palm Beach County
I have been volunteer helping Palm Beach County again this year with their artificial reef program. My role over the past decade or two has been to help evaluate locations and perform video surveys of the bottom. The latest project is the Ana Cecilia, a 170-foot, 629-ton freighter, which will be sunk just outside the Palm Beach Inlet near the existing Mizpah wreck in 80+ feet of ocean water.
Read up on the history of the ship here: Ship that once hauled both hope and drugs to become Palm Beach reef http://www.mypalmbeachpost.com/news/...o-becom/nrNf7/ The First Cargo Ship to Sail to Cuba in 50 Years Is About to Become an Artificial Reef http://www.browardpalmbeach.com/news...l-reef-7903392 Then read up on the dedication of the ship to the tragedies of the lost boys of Jupiter Austin and Perry who disappeared in July 2015 as well as the Sheriff Deputy Fernandas and his son and father-in-law who passed in April 2016. Ship to be sunk as artificial reef will honor lost Palm Beach County mariners http://eyeonpbc.blog.palmbeachpost.c...unty-mariners/ Last week, I went to the Miami River ship yard where the vessel is being prepared for sinking. I shot some raw footage of the prep activities that I then edited into best takes down to 7 minutes for exclusive use by the news media. Please note that the crow's nest is supposed to be re-attached on the back deck of the ship for diver photo ops. Here is a link to the final version of the video on YouTube: Ana Cecilia Artificial Reef Preparation July 2016 Raw Footage Clips https://youtu.be/QQcUtsMJX50 Besides showing what goes into prepping a ship as an artificial reef, this short 7 minute video will give divers a visual tour of some of the exploration they can do when she is underwater. Enjoy! Tony . Tony is there any plans or talk of sinking a ship off juno/jupiter area. The wreck trek is a zoo, would be nice to have some more structure out that way.

Re: Welcome to the Ana Cecilia Shipwreck Artificial Reef in Palm Beach County
Old friend Tom Special dove the Ana Cecilia wreck from the Enterprise boat with us Wednesday. He worked for WPTV in the past and now works for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Department. Here is his edited video:

Re: Welcome to the Ana Cecilia Shipwreck Artificial Reef in Palm Beach County
The wreck is just south and east of the mitzpah (from what I was told).
We were snorkeling on it today, with marginal visibility - at least for us spoiled PB divers. https://youtu.be/HZolkMPvEHs

Re: Welcome to the Ana Cecilia Shipwreck Artificial Reef in Palm Beach County
On Saturday, July 30, 2016, I did a video survey of the wreck after being underwater for 17 days. I cleaned off the three memorial plaques which had a layer of algae growth on them. Here are a few images from my cameras and my buddy's cameras:
