I definitely see the concern as limits and sizes may change. However, I believe it is good information to keep up so long as the thread can be maintained.

Holmes, it's your thread. I nominate that you keep it updated. Haha.

Oh wait, that's me! I added some colorful red reminders to always double check the latest regs.

Thanks for the reminder about the WSB bag limit of 1 between March and June. I guess I haven't yet had to worry about that rule in my hunting career thus far.

Update: I added a better pic and gif of California Barracuda, plus a gif of a Giant Sea Bass and a juvenile pic after learning they look totally different.

Here's a fish ID question, what are those fish behind the black sea bass at 0:58? https://youtu.be/2-h2l_lDz5s?t=57s. Is that what bonito look like in the wild? I see small schools that look exactly like those guys, never could figure out what what they were.

No, browns are rather uncommon. Grassies and kelpies are by far the most common, followed by usually small olives and treefish (in holes).

Re: Los Angeles (Palos Verdes) Fish ID

Very cool!!

I have no clue what you all see down there, but if you go North into BigSur or further you will for sure see Blue and Black rockfish and now that Blacks have a sub-limit in the RCG bag of 10 it is important to know the difference...

Super easy to tell underwater...blues are mottled looking and blacks have an obvious streak on their side and spots along their back...they kinda look like a black/white version of an Olive to me...

I've attached a pic of the DFW wall chart, a pic my buddy Harold took of a big school of blues with an Olive in the middle, and a pic of Harold with some small blacks...also added one of a camoed male cab guarding some eggs.

Sincerely,

Jim

Re: Los Angeles (Palos Verdes) Fish ID

I was excited to spot a new species for me this weekend. I saw a sea turtle at Cherry Cove in Catalina:

The animated gif is better:

Are they common visitors?
