Best Railgun/Pipe gun handle

Hey guys,

I want to put together a couple of railguns and was curious as to your opinions on some of the better handles to buy. I want to take into accountability comfort, as well as a good trigger mechanism that will last. Thanks guys.

I'd say Pathos D'II if you want to put additional effort and money into it. RA Vecta 2 is a solid choice that does not need much. I just picked up an MVD handle but don't have enough time with it.

What additional money or effort is there to put into the D’II? And keep me updated on that mvd, I have heard mixed reviews about it.

Re: Best Railgun/Pipe gun handle

As for Pathos D'II and money, prolly referring to replacing the trigger. Can't remember if the drop-in double roller trigger from Ermes is fully sorted out for that handle yet, though but others can chime in on that.
In reg. to effort, changing that trigger out and possibly making a custom, friction grip - though that would, likely, be a nice mod on pretty much any handle out there.

Re: Best Railgun/Pipe gun handle

If looking at the Pathos DII handle, I would recommend getting the universal grip, vs a right or left hand grip. The right/left hand grips create a long reach for the index finger to pull the trigger.

The factory setup of the DII handle comes with a reverse mech and a tiny (to me) pin to wrap your shooting line(s) around. Aftermarket mechs provide better made mechs and better shooting line release. They end up costing a bit more to modify.

I've been using the MVD handle in two of my guns, one of them for over a year, diving nearly every weekend. The MVD has a reverse mech and hasn't given me any trouble. On the flip side, some would advise against the reverse mech (in the DII as an example) since some may develop a tendency to cause inconsistent firing, due to scratching of the sear components. The roller type mechs seem to be preferable. However, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another MVD handle. I have one on my reef and blue water gun.

I haven't seen issues with the Rob Allens or Aimrite handles, if you can get a hold of them.

Re: Best Railgun/Pipe gun handle

I've done a couple Pathos D'II handles with the upgraded Ermes double roller mech (specifically made for the D'II handle). Reaching out to Ermes directly has been my best bet getting a good price. You can get the D'II handle (body only - no mechanism) here: https://www.spearfishingworld.com/Pa...un-Handle.html. They will even ask you if you want right/left/or universal grip.

I've never used the MVD handles/mechs, so I can't say anything about them. But, the D'II/Ermes double roller combo is a really nice setup. Good luck.

Do yourself a favor and get a Meandros handle. There is nothing even close te the quality and Performance. Pathos D'Angelo 2 coming close second.

Re: Best Railgun/Pipe gun handle

Bringing this one back to life- which pipe gun handle can take the most loads? I have a 90 cm pathos with D1 and it cannot handle two 14mm small id bands -the trigger pull is impossible to pull. The D2 with upgraded trigger sear in my 110 with 14mm small Id bands at 330% is decent but had to buy the sears. So basically which handle out of the box can handle heavy load on say a 120cm barrel with bands at 350% with a smooth trigger pull?

Re: Best Railgun/Pipe gun handle

I buy the Meandros B28 for all my builds. Great handle with ergonomics as well as one of the best trigger mechs I have used. About the same price as the Pathos D2 but you don't have to upgrade the mech. I know Spearamerica or Andrew at Nautilus Spearfishing can order them.

Does this Mech fit into the pathos D1 or D2?

Re: Best Railgun/Pipe gun handle

2 14mm bands should be pretty easy to handle for any handle (get it?)...I'd say something is off with your D1. Can't comment on the other brands, but Mako has treated me pretty well for the past decade. For fit just look up the ID/OD's of the pipes/handles.
