Nice score on the yellowtail. First one posted on this thread. I never see them. Looks like you had a blast

Thanks! I feel really fortunate. I only could spear 3 days and I cant imagine it turning out better than it did. I really think that killing that yellow tail had to do with being in the water so early in the morning. It was at El Cardinal and out a ways. Do you spear that far up north or only down south? It was good everywhere we tried up there.

Re: cabo in shore report

Hey Andrew...We love that spot..found it when we first started going to Cabo years ago (near Punta)...Trained my son there...We always stop by to see how its doing and get fish. We've found other productive spots too..But that ones still productive as ever. Lobster in those rocks under the crevices as well. There are gems of shore diving spots all along that coast. Kinda a best kept secret. I use Google earth to key in on the structure near shore then ATV to the spots with a gps and eye balling it. Hasn't failed. And yes, the earlier the better. Paddle out far enough with a flasher and you can get some great size Leopard Grouper. The later in the a.m it gets, the big grouper disappear. Man, the bait love that area too...Huge swarms of what I think is shad and another type I cant name frequent those areas.

I thought I saw a yellow tail once...not sure..Perhaps I don't see many due to the time of year we go (middle ,late summer). Anyway congrats on that!

Re: cabo in shore report

Thanks bud! My friend who lives in Los Barrieles saw two more after I left. He didn't get a shot on either. Must be the time of year for sure. All that coast is amazing. Didn't see any lobster but next time I hope so.

Re: cabo in shore report

Hey Steve,
My co-worker's wife and her sister were down your way week before last. She said there were a couple cruise ships in the bay, and that when they went to the beach, there was a ton of trash, consisting of plastic drink cups, lime slices, etc. lining the beach. Does this happen often? Are these ships dumping stuff overboard down there?
Thanks,
Ron.

Perhaps a trash can was blown over or just an off day. Defiantly tourist trash...they keep the marina area pretty tidy from what Ive seen.

Re: cabo in shore report

If you are shore diving and spearfishing do you need a Mexican fishing lic? Or is it like hook and line fishing from the shore , no licence required. Sorry if someone already asked this I looked at the whole thread and did not see it, on mi iPhone though so I could've missed it. My wife and I come to San Jose del Cabo once a year or so and Am going to bring a gun next time.

No licence required to fish from shore. Licence required to spearfish from shore or boat.

Re: cabo in shore report

Thanks, in December we were in SJD I asked two different panga operators that we fished with and the federale checking the licenses when we left the harbor in Cabo one morning and got 3 shoulder shrugs.

Re: cabo in shore report

I was back in Cabo last week and we had a few lucky breaks finding some fish in marginal visibility. Water temps were in the lower 70's.

Damn looks like you are just hitting the new jetty! Can you sneek into the inside since I assume there is no harbor patrol like in the USA?
