Tried everything to re-glue foot pocket…

Read the threads, tried superglue and 5200 and nothing sticks. The fix seems ok, and then one day diving and the side rail of the foot pocket comes off the blade…again. I’m an inch away from duct taping the thing (black tape, of course…I don’t want to be a, “bubba.”) and forgetting about a more elegant solution. Unless some of you gurus can help?

Superglue or cyanoacrylate does not work in water, so you need something like a contact adhesive. Epoxy glue can be used on rubber fins, but does not stick to any plastic material unless you rough it up. A polyurethane based adhesive may work, but I have not used it in such an application.

I hate the stuff, but try Aqua Seal, Be SURE To use the cotel hardener ( not only does it cure faster, but it stays flexable)

Thanks for this! I should’ve mentioned that these are carbon fins, which is likely complicating things further. I’ll get some Aqua Seal and give it a try.

European manufacturers use cyanoacrilate (Super glue). The most important step when glueing is previous preparation; you must clean off any dirt, residue and grease very well. Sand both surfaces and then apply the glue. Once applied, put some pressure all over the footpocket tendoms with something like this:

And let it dry for 24 hours.
