Question time to change my anchor line

So I've been using the same anchor line for 20 years (i dive quite a bit), and it's still going good but thinking of changing. I don't know what it was made of.

I tried the 100 feet line from home depot because it looked like my old line and it had a pretty yellow color! Lasted five dives. Not ideal.

So what do you recommend?

Take your line out and reverse it, tie the end that was on the anchor to the I bolt ( bitter end) and the end that was tied to the bitter end to your anchor, the only worn end is the one used most, near the anchor.

I've been using something identical to the Hammerhead ice line. http://hammerheadwebstore.com/standard-ice-line/

I bought it in a 500 ft roll and use it for my dive buoy line and my kayak anchor line. Been using it a couple years now and it's been holding up great.

Re: time to change my anchor line

I should probably qualify my answer, how long is your anchor line and how much of it do you typically use? I have 600 feet of line, and so the last 300 feet is all that is consistently used, give or take, ( say your diving in 100 feet water with a scope of 3:1 only 300 feet of the 600 is used) so thus the other half of the line is in PREMO New condition, and reversing it is like new line.

I love this rope: https://www.cwcglobal.com/rope-cordage/blue-steel

It is well priced and lasts forever!
