LB2CAT Jet Ski Race
Long Beach to Catalina (Avalon) and back endurance jet ski race on July 12, 2009. Have any of you done this race before? I purchased a ski last year (1yr in May) and plan on doing the race this year in the "Stock Box" class. Apparently the Stock Box class is new this year and since it will be my first jet ski race and my ski is bone stock I think I'll have better odds of not coming in last place. Seeing if any other riders from SB will be participating or have any pointers.

Re: LB2CAT Jet Ski Race
I think just riding a ski is boring, it's not my cup of tea. I like going somewhere to do something on my ski. Going to Cat is easy, you should have fun. Let us know how you do.

Re: LB2CAT Jet Ski Race
IME&O, guys who have experience driving a ski in heavy surf tend to blow away the offshore racers if the conditions are at all adverse. More experience holding on through nastiness.
I don't know if the stock class is seperated by brand as well. If it isn't you'll be at a severe disadvantage unless you are riding the 250hp Kawi or the Yami SHO - both are 80 mph skis stock |

Re: LB2CAT Jet Ski Race
I just got home from the award ceremony in Long Beach and am hyped for taking 1st in my class. It was a new class this year so a lot of the pros entered with their stock practice skies (Super Charged) to take home a medal. There was enough naturally aspirated skies (Me) in the class that they seperated natural from non at the last minute. Better for me
Now that I am done practicing for the race I can get back to fishing. |

Re: LB2CAT Jet Ski Race
Nice work!
I somehow missed this post Would have been fun to try and get a double win for the SB brother hood (me supercharged class) edit: Just read and checked out the website; interesting stuff. Winning guy in the Pro class did Long Beach to Avalon and back in 59 minutes. Thats an average of 60mph. Thats gangster. They have some shaky heli footage from last year with a guy going over the bars at 60mph during the race. Hit a kelp paddy that tied up on the front and spit him off. Next race: Dana Point to Oceanside and Back Race Date Announced! September 27, 2009 http://www.pwcoffshore.com/DanaPoint...side_Race.html IM IN!!

Re: LB2CAT Jet Ski Race
where is the link for that video? sounds interesting/funny to watch. I once watched my brother fall off his ski at 60mph and he skipped on his back like a stone skipping on a lake.
