Big Yellow Tail on the Paddies

Went out last week (Tuesday) heading to the Tuna grounds 209 and 181 for not. We did come across a paddie and took 5 fish on rod and reel. When the bite was done I jumped in a shot a nice YT who was leading the school.

Soon after the wind kicked up then the swell. We got hit hard and decided it was safer to head to Avalon for the night then to cross the channel. The waves were coming straight at us for 4.5 hours to make 35 miles. It was nice to pull in to calm water. The Coast Guard had 4 boats return to Catalina as the weather deteriorated. They were running drills in the channel between CI and SCI when a storm cell hit them by surprise.

We had dinner at the Lobster Trap and enjoyed a delicious dinner before going back to the boat. We left Avalon at 5:30am to a much better crossing.

Cheers, Kadman

Sucks you got rocked, but at least you came back with a nice one. Smart move to head to a safe zone. Live to dive another day!

Nice catch in iffy conditions...If you haven't tried it, Descanso Beach out beyond the Casino is a good location for afternoon drinks and a nice view, especially in hot weather...

We will convene on this matter shortly

Re: Big Yellow Tail on the Paddies

Will have to check out Descanso for drinks. Thanks Bob.

Of course it is a "push" but decent non the less. Here is another hook and line YT for size perspective.

Had fish tacos for dinner. Delicious.

Go get em...

Don't hate, Big_Berg, there's plenty of beard to go around. Haha.

Another decent push but your buddy needs to learn how to hide that elbow more effectively....
