Sasha, your boat is solid! And, what an awesome history. Whoever buys her from you will be very fortunate.

Are you taking a break from boat ownership, or moving to something new?

C'mon now lance, not havin a boat and not being able to dig out off land is like living in suffocation.
I have always wanted to get into a 33'. Thought maybe now is the time. Need to come up with a pretty penny tho! Most likely I'll be keeping my 27'. To many fish, to many good times on her.

This 33' out of Kona is my wet dream. Love the whale tail/gunwale for big come-a-longs.

Re: California Dive Boats -- the legend of Radon (pictures)

This may be the wrong place to post this. But seems to be some people in the know on here. I have a Anderson 26 work boat always packing a load with a yanmar 315. Bravo 2 b2-1 gear not sure that i am proped right my wot is 25kts at 3850 with full fuel tanks and about 1000 lbs of bait. Cruise about 15kts at 2900 current prop 23" by 19p. Seems like i should have a little more speed? Do i need to drop diameter and increase pitch ? Or is this about right. Thanks for any input

That sounds about right considering that you're driving around heavy all time. Do you have a Pyrometer? what's the reading?

If you've got a pyro, try and run it at the lowest temperature, within reason. Diesel exhaust temperature is directly related to engine load. Just like vacuum is on a gas engine.

From experience I'd say you need to bump up the throttle to 3200 and get some more power out of that thing.

Yes I do have a pyro currently seeing about 670 -680 at 2900. Really appreciate the reply. I will try cruising a little faster awsome boat by the way packs a ridiculous load in super rough weather. Safely
Thanks again

Nice swell running this last week, out and about with Nate on his insane re-done panga, the 'Jolly Rancher'. He says after all this time that the Yamaha 70 has been the 'perfect' motor for the skiff, and he couldn't be happier with the design.

Re: California Dive Boats -- the legend of Radon (pictures)

Was up in Santa Cruz for a few days earlier this week, and got a chance to check out the various boats that UCSC has in their research fleet? Lots of RIBS, inflatables, various Whaler incarnations, three Radons, and one Anderson center console.

They operate a huge Radon 32..............powered by twin outboards (??). I think it may be an H&F, not a D.R....but the two smaller ones, one a 26 and the other a Sig 22, were built by Don I believe...

Re: California Dive Boats -- the legend of Radon (pictures)

Stopped by the mechanics shop today and thought I would throw up some pictures for all you bowpicker lovers.

The one with the twin davits and railing is the Wasabi which I Think is around a 28 ft radon.
The other is a 26' Wilson the Risky Business.
Gotta love those bowpickers.

Yeah, the Wasabi is an Anderson 26, not a Radon. I've spoken with Ed about it and it's a way bitchen boat; I spent some time looking at it alongside the dock in Albion and it is one very burly piece of ocean machinery.

Thanks for the correction skiff. I have to say it is a bitchen boat. The extravagent swimstep must be what makes me think its 28

The 26 wilson recently repowered with a mercruiser 383 and is loving the power and efficientcy.

MendoGB- I've always loved the Wilsons, to me, that bow entry is super aesthetic. Here's a few shots of my buddy George's Wilson 26, F/V Keoki. And a shot of the big 36, F/V Weather or Not...

...and a few shots of Kevin Costner's huge custom D.R. Radon over at the fuel dock. This thing is SUPER complex, and is so long, it took two shots to get it all in!

George's last name is Hawkin's.

Here's another image of the Keoki at Mavericks several years ago. George is with photographer Dan Merkel.

Re: California Dive Boats -- the legend of Radon (pictures)

Those of you on Facebook may have already seen this, but for those who aren't....
My son Mickey just bought this 20' last week. Has a Volvo drive and GM V-6, saddle tanks, fish hold. Never buttoned up after extensive downtime doing deep-clean overhaul.
Hope to get it in the water before salmon season opens. Will definitely be the package to have when albacore show up this summer.
