Big Tiger Shark
Had an encounter with a very big tiger while diving this weekend off Brisbane, Australia. One of those...'what's going to happen here' moments.

Re: Big Tiger Shark
That does not look like fun. The cobia looked tiny, a bet they weren't.

Re: Big Tiger Shark
Tigers have accounted for a number of divers stranded in open water when their dive boat unexpectedly departed without them. Preferring to snack on Sea Turtles the Tigers will investigate anything edible on the surface or just below.

Re: Big Tiger Shark
When I was 13 my first try at swimming out to the reef off Dania beach with my new Hawaiian sling and I encounter a fat 8-9 ft Tiger.
Tiger just slowly swam by and I slowly headed back to the beach with my heart racing like it would jump out of my throat.Went back to Whiskey creek and settled for Mangroves and Schoolmaster snappers. It was scary for me as a boy but the shark was so graceful and in my eyes beautiful that it made an impression on me I remember over 40 years later. Next day I was on the pier telling my story and NOBODY believed me because there wasnt big sharks that close to shore.Old guy ended up pulling in a 8ft Hammerhead later that day off the pier.I had one go under my 13 ft whaler fishing off the south side of Port Everglades that was longer than the boat.Im guessing it wanted Kingfish too. When my dad would go to the Bahamas(usually Bimini)he would have me fly and he could nap.The trip was boring until you descend to do your approach.Old man would let me cruise along the Islands and count the sharks. After clearing customs and catching the ferry I was in the water with my sling.I have seen some monster Tigers off north Bimini and West End.Never got aggressive like the reef sharks.Local girl I knew would never go deeper than waist deep on the beach with me.She knew what was there and I didnt care.

Re: Big Tiger Shark
I've encountered many large Tigers to date. Honestly theres something almost calming about them for me as long as its not a "Pop out of no where within two feet" scenario.
Clear high vis blue water, Tigers, no problem. The two run ins Ive had with large Whites in murkey green SoCal Water....now that ish scared the crap out of me and straight into my 5mil, still would I'm sure.
