Tuna Trip 7/2-7/3

Hey guys, i'm posting this to see if anyone with a capable truck that can tow my boat down from Oxnard to Dana Point would be interested in joining me and my buddy Trevor Hutter for a Tuna trip aboard my Parker 2320. We will leave super early Monday morning and come back late Tuesday night, that would give us 2 full days of diving on the water and all costs will be split 3 ways. PM me if you have a truck and are willing to tow my boat down, are a competent diver, and have all gear necessary to target these fish.

Report:

Ended up heading out to the 43 and "The Corner", Tern action all day and saw boiling Bluefin all day as well, unfortunately they weren't cooperating well and were hella shy of my boat. Similar story with a lot of guys but a few people did score. Saw a school of smaller grade Yellowfin that was out of range. The wind and swell kicked up in the evening and that was that. No fish taken. Better luck next time.

Way to give it a go. If it’s any consolation, I took FOUR 10 hour trips on a 33’ sportfisher (guzzles so much gas $$$) to the 43 last summer and didn’t land a single fish. Saw fish, but could not get them to bite anything and they wouldn’tcome within spear range. Happens!

Once the moon goes down a little more and the tiny baitfish are harder to score, the tuna action should improve...fish are within 10 miles of SCI east end currently....go big on the lures, as tuna don't waste time chasing one small lure (the old match the hatch theory) when tons of baitfish and red crab are available by the mouthful..

Re: Tuna Trip 7/2-7/3

Split 3 ways it was around $180 per person so not too bad on price. Yeah I was a little bummed but that's the name of the game or else it'd be called catching not fishing. I'm gonna give it another shot soon but for now i'm gonna go shoot some Yellows in my backyard

Speaking of yellows I got an epic Yellowtail report I want to share, i'll post soon...
