International competitors, dont forget that you will need TWO completely empty passport pages in order to enter South Africa!

Re: Cape Town Yellowfin Tuna Open Tournament
Is that so you can tear them out later? I went there during Apartheid in the 1980s and one trip after Apartheid, but I don't remember that requirement.

Re: Cape Town Yellowfin Tuna Open Tournament
Guys, last year when I was there you only needed a page for the stamps and visa. Obviously things can change but that is how it was last year. They did the stamps and visa on the same page and it omly took up 3 squares on one page. I guess it really depends on how the person stamping the book decides to do the stamping. They can get pretty crazy with were they stamp sh-t sometimes.
Just a little more then a month left guys! Eric

Re: Cape Town Yellowfin Tuna Open Tournament
Hi there
Please bring along your country storm flags if anyone has one, we have flag poles. It will be nice for the rivalry! With regards to the Visa remarks, just be patient and smile it usually works. Make the official feel importent. It sucks to say it ,but we are a 3'rd world country even if we pretend we are first world. Most officials will probably not even have grade 12 under their belt. Cheers AJ

AJ,
Is it possible to have some lead available for the traveling spearos? That stuff gets heavy in the bags. Thanks Eric

Re: Cape Town Yellowfin Tuna Open Tournament
Eric brings up a valid point. Everytime I've had lead in my gear bag and flew somewhere, the lead was gone when I got there. My team member is retired from Delta airlines and he says that they confiscate it because it can be used to shield an explosive device from the scanners. Thanks for bringing up a really important point Eric.

Re: Cape Town Yellowfin Tuna Open Tournament
Hi Guys
Yes ofcourse I can arrange lead. I will ask a couple of friends and I'll ask Louis from Rabitech if we can borrow a couple of second hand lead weights. I will however need your requirements as soon as possible so we can make a plan. If possible bring your own belt. Cheers AJ

Re: Cape Town Yellowfin Tuna Open Tournament
Just so you guys know, for us South Africans to visut the USA we need to submit a visa application well in advance, report to the US Embassy in Cape Town or Johannesburg for a personal interview, pay a visa fee of about $500, provide proof of employment, residence and income (usually 6 months bank statements and/or salary slips)...and then we may be refused and not get the visa fee refunded. So two blank pages is not a big deal...some countries insist on 6 pages blank (it is not that they use them though) and a passport that is valid for at least 6 months after entry.
