Ragnar

My wife is running her way down to Key West with team "Catchin' a Buzz". I'm left at home watching the kids. One day I'll make it to the Keys. Even if it means I have to run part of the way there.

How crazy is it down there with the race going on?

Re: Ragnar

Never have I seen more white vans in my life then yesterday, the traffic on us1 was absolutley terrible, It took almost 50 minuets to drive 8 miles. To say the least, if they never do another one of these runs again, it would be too soon.

Re: Ragnar

Sorry it sucked for the locals. I'll let my wife know but I doubt it will discourage her from doing it again. 200 miles between the 12 women from Miami to Key West, blazing sun, heat exhaustion, zero dark thirty runs on bridges with cars going 65mph, and 1 bitchy team mate. She is sore and probably has another knee injury, but she is already looking forward to doing it again next year.

Re: Ragnar

It didnt suck specifically for just the locals, it sucked for everyone on that road that had anything to do. Haha. If there was anything positive i can take from it, i would have to say some of the wacky costumes they were wearing were pretty funny. I saw superwoman, a Chiquita girl and a guy dressed up as banana, lots of tutus and crazy hats. The writing on all the van were pretty funny as well. I have to give it up to them, some of them were pretty creative. And lets be honest, there is a lot of good looking FIT ladies in town now. They all looked like they were having a good time , with blisters, loosing toenails, puking, and in the end that's what really matters.

I know about a dozen people that ran and i gave them all plenty of shit about it. Dont let us asshole locals discourage her from signing up and doing it again. In fact, tell her that i would be upset if she didnt. Realistically speaking, it was just one day and we will have to get over it. You should hear the kind of things we say about all those jackass parrot heads that come down to listen to that god awful jimmy buffet music.

Hey! Watch what you say about us Parrotheads. We help support the local drinking economy. We clog up bars, not roads

Re: Ragnar

Haha, ask any bartender what event they hate the most, try not to be too surprised at what they say.. . After speaking with a few bartender friends i have deducted that the ragnar freaks are in fact even WORSE at tipping then those pesky parrot heads. $.25 tip on a round of beers happened all weekend long. Instead of counting dollar bills while cashing out they were rolling quarters at the end of the night...

You said it! At least when I lived in Atlanta you could find a detour around 'em... Not so much when there's only one road!

If you think that alcohol sodden Parrotheads and endorphin stoned runners are bad tippers, wait until all the blowboaters show up for Key West Race Week.

Re: Ragnar

What do a Sailboater's Shorts and a five dollar bill have in common?

After a week in the marina, neither on of them have been changed.

Re: Ragnar

I see no reason for this race to take place in the Keys. It's truly a pain in the Ass!!

They need to run across US 41 next time!

Re: Ragnar

I drove from west palm to marathon early saturday morning and made it in about 3 hours. Traffic wasn't too bad other than the occasional white van going 30 mph waving at every runner.
