LA/Orange Co. Grunion Run..

...The 28th thru June 1st is a scheduled grunion run. With near noon high tides and some calmer conditions, now is a good chance for a coastal halibut or wsb, both of which feed voraciously on grunion.
... Good vis, lots of bonito and improving yellowtail catches make diving in the clear blue conditions at Catalina a good bet currently. Some squid up near the west end will help bring in the ghosts. Bluefin catches to 150 lbs within 50 miles of San Diego has the tuna season looking good....Now, as soon as I can retrieve my Parker back from West Coast Trailers (for a complete re-build), wifey poo and I will be heading due west for a few days of diving and Lua Larry's mai tais, while based out of Avalon town....

Trivia: Which American invented the first swim fins in the U.S.?
Probably, Ben Franklin, who, as a youth, tied two wood boards to his feet and swam across a pond....progress was slow and has since improved...

Kind of a trick question. The first american to MANUFACTURE fins was Churchill (Owen) but these were based on a french design/patent. Thnx for the heads up. I go back up north on wednesday for a week, and might have to get on some of that action!
