Have either guys taken a Freedive class?

It looks like the guy that blacked out was just surfacing before he made his dive. Was he surfacing as a spotter for his buddy's previous dive?

I see lots of errors with his diving there.

Thanks johnny glad you enjoyed it! Cld check out the youtube description, it will give you some back story on the dive and circumstances. The diver that blacked out was me, I had a 5 min breathup and did onot one dive. My partner took a short dive with me then had to dive to meet me when he saw I was having trouble.

Gotcha.

I was just trying to get more info on the cause of the SWB.

You look really overweighted on your breath up, having to kick to stay afloat.

Are you thinking about getting a FRV now?

Thanks

We weren't wearing any weight....sucks to be naturally neutral/negative. We have tossed around the idea of using foam on a weight belt to make us more neutral. It's obviously better for buoyancy when we have wetsuits on but they were just skins.

Yes, that's a problem. Wearing a 1mm/3mm bottom in the warmer months would help and be safer. You really need to be bouyant on the surface. If the vis was bad, your buddy wouldn't have seen your signal and you wouldn't have surfaced.

I've seen guys use a piece of pool float. But it needs to be on a separate belt than the weights, so you can ditch the weights and float up naturally.
