Re: Introducing a new section for Boating
Ture World Marine makes a great boat for diving and recreational fishing. Everything is great about these boats. Parker, Shamrocks and Grady White makes great dive boats too. I like the Center Console models myself but I do a lot of recreational fishing more that spearfishing, plus I only go diving in nice weather. CC's are great in bad weather though because you have better weight distribution. The beauty in center console boats is the walk around space. For diving I like the Pilot house or large cuddy cabin, more space to set up speargun and tank racks, thats hard to do with a smaller CC.

Re: Introducing a new section for Boating
I live in Arkansas and dive mostly on Lake Ouachita (clear clear water). Currently I dive out of my Bayliner ski boat, and let me tell you how bad that sucks. Very short ladder to climb out with your gear on and even harder to haulit over the side. I am currently looking for me a set of pontoons to serve as a platform for my on vision of what a dive boat should be. Hopefully one day I will have it and can show it off. Just remember SKI BOATS SUCK as dive boats. HAHA

Check out these after market pilothouses. Some are pretty neat looking.
http://www.pacificpilothouse.com/ Anyone have any experience with these?

Re: Introducing a new section for Boating
Here is the boat I use up in Oregon. An enclosure for the weather if needed, if not, it can be removed, a full transom swimstep that is just barely above the water, and an anchor locker up front. Works well for 3 divers, 4 is doable but crowded. The boat is 20 feet.

Not saying which is best. Just saying that I have two Suzuki's, and really like them both. No problems, great motors.

Re: Introducing a new section for Boating
Personally I would love to have a bigger boat, but I don't want bigger expenses. I use a Carolina 16ft skiff with a 30 hp 4 stroke Mercury. It can't take more than two guys with gear, but I have had it out in 6ft swells, and winds over 35mph (NOT RECOMMENDED) and it burns very little gas. I have never used a full tank which is 8 gallons, even during a full day of running from spot to spot. Its lightweight and easy to trailer and launch.
We have killed a lot of fish off of it and for local dives, it's a good choice. Kevin |

Re: Introducing a new section for Boating
Hi all,
I've just joined spearboard and like the idea of the WalkAround style boats. Trophy, Sea Fox and Pro-Line make an affordable model in the 20ft long versions (I'm looking at 2005 - 2010 models). Does anyone have experience on any of these type of boats? |

Re: Introducing a new section for Boating
I've had many boats. All around gulf boat was my 26 dusky. Inboard perkins. Nothing to break. 25 gallons all day. Go through anything and yea it was wet but with stand up windshield who cares? I have a pilot house now that I CANT STAND. I want glass windows that open like the dusky did. The one I have now you are blind at night with the reflections and little breeze when its 95. Yes Tony I am still alive.
