Playmate Charter Key West

Anyone know if the Playmate is still in operation down in Key West? Have a charter scheduled for August but no response to emails or phone calls for two months.

Re: Playmate Charter Key West

I was wondering the same. Still waiting to get my deposit back from 2 mini lobster seasons ago when the trip was canceled. Seems like Facebook page was taken down.

Send me a marina/slip and I will cruise down and look. I am on quarantine here in Islamorada and bored.

Re: Playmate Charter Key West

Reporting back:
The Playmate is no longer at the marina. It used to be docked next to a boat called The Blind Squirrel. The guy working on that boat heard that the Playmate was sold. The dock hand said it has left the marina for good and last he knew it was at Robbie's Marina. I took the short trip over there and it is a boatyard that looks like it does major overhaul work. I walked the property and did not see any boat named Playmate, although several boat were in the process of being re-painted and it could be one of those.

Sorry for the less than good news.

Re: Playmate Charter Key West

I heard the boat had been sold and that the new owners did not intend to use it for charters.......not verified just what I heard.

Most likely true. If the new owner were to use it as a charter, it would be construed as a fraudulent transfer and unpaid debts could chase him/the boat. That is why a lawyer would structure a sale of the business to require disclosure of debts. But to buy it as "just a boat" is nothing nefarious.
