Ocean related Book Club 1st read: SECRET SEAS by Carlos Eyles

I am hoping we can successfully form an online book club on spearfishing, diving, and ocean related topics. I received many good suggestions for books to read; thanks to all for the recommendations. Please keep them coming.

Carlos Eyles has a engrossing collection of short stories titled Secret Seas. It is my favorite book of his, and includes both fiction and nonfiction.

Anyone who is interested in discussing this volume (it may be a dull winter on SB without Secret Cove stirring the cyber-pot) is invited to do so when we discuss it starting 12/27.

Feel free to post comments that will encourage others to read it, but don't include specifics that reveal the content of the stories, until December 27th when all will have had a chance to finish this slim book.

I'd encourage everyone to buy it at their local dive shop or independent book seller, but its also available on Amazon for $12.

I'm looking forward to rereading this book, and hearing your opinions on it.

Jeremy

I read it. It was okay; a lot of dreamy sequences spun together. Very fantasy based, but a fun read.

I read his other book, "Last of the blue water hunters". It was a pretty good read and definitely interesting for those who spear at Catalina a lot. It seemed like a non-fiction...

Do you have a list of books you own or have read.? I would be happy to post a list in the off season, some good, some not so good.
Always looking for something water, hunter related.

Happy Holidays to all.

secret seas is one of my favorite dive books.
a couple of the stories are a little dreamy, but a few of them are almost riveting in the development of the story, intensified by the fact that they are true stories.
I've probably read it 8 times or so.
I wore out my first copy of last of the bluewater hunter.

And, for all you lady labs out there, Stains needs a girlfriend. He's got his papers, and he has the biggest set of dog pills this side of a bull mastiff!!!

Not a spearfishing related book, but Shadow Divers was a good read and showed me how once again the diving world is broken up into many sub-cultures.

Nice! lol! Speaking of which, my Tegu needs a girlfriend. He's only two years old, but he's recently started taking out his.. frustrations.. on my shoes!

Secret Seas - Does anyone have a copy I can borrow? Please PM me if so. Thank you so much in advance.
