How to embed a YouTube video player into your Spearboard posts

A member asked me about this and here is my answer:


To embed a YouTube video player into your Spearboard posts, go to the YouTube video and click on the tab called "Share" right below the player. If the video is allowed to be shared, you will see a code that is highlighted for copying (see example below). With that code highlighted, choose the keys Ctrl and C together to copy the code or use your mouse and the copy command on the edit menu.

Place the cursor inside your Spearboard post in the edit mode and choose the keys Ctrl and V together to paste the code into your post. The Spearboard vbulletin software will automatically embed the player when you save the post.

These instructions are for PCs, but the same applies to Macs and mobile devices.

On my phone, I do this:

When you are on the YouTube video, the "share" icon and select text messaging or email. YouTube generates a short URL address that has a dot between the "u" and the "b" like this "youtu.be"

For example:

h-t-t-p://youtu.be/0lFuaSD0Dbk

When you paste that URL address (without the dashes) into your post, the forum software embeds the video player.

Be sure to delete the "s" in the beginning of the URL as follows :

https WILL NOT WORK

Didn't work with Vimeo either

Other boards will embed by pasting the embed code in post. Would be nice.

Not sure it is in the best interest of Spearboard to promote YouTube, right Marcus?

EDIT:

So, this is what I got because I didn't follow directions...
I highlighted the text and then right clicked and chose "Copy embed code" (sounded good) which gave me the code you see above... which is not correct. Use Control C as directed in the first post...

ok... im on a mac... I can build a website but I'm having trouble with embed a you tube..... does it take a while to work..?
