Thumbs up Paralenz, New Underwater Optimized Action Camera, Aims at GroPro

Paralenz, New Underwater Optimized Action Camera, Aims at GroPro

June 30, 2017

Another article:

The Paralenz can go to 200 metres depth without any additional housing and automatically corrects color, using a pressure sensor to detect the depth you’re diving at. Conventional action cams typically require the use of filters to correct for underwater light conditions.

Re: Paralenz, New Underwater Optimized Action Camera, Aims at GroPro

Saw this yesterday in one of my usual dive shops and asked the staff about it. Apparently the first batch had defective end caps that resulted in flooding, but they were able to send those back and get them replaced for free. Since then, no such issues.

One of them decided to test the battery life by just leaving it running in the shop and got 4 hours out of it. That last bit is good since unlike the GoPro it seems the battery is built into the camera rather than something you can swap out; unless you have an outlet handy on the boat to recharge that's it for the day.

Personally, I think I'll wait a little bit to retire my Hero 3 Silver, but then again my attitude is typically "If it ain't broke, why replace it?"

Had a customer come in to the spearfishing store the other day that has one.
He showed me a couple videos on his phone and they were very impressive especially in regards to color and clarity.

Re: Paralenz, New Underwater Optimized Action Camera, Aims at GroPro

I used the previous version and i was really excited about it first and talked one of my buddies into buying one, which i later regretted.
Functionality was not great, luckily they have improved connectivity but let’s wait and see. I was never able, not even once to transfer video to the paralenz app on my phone.
Comparing it to the GoPro it seems like you can get a lot more for your money. I will have to read a lot of positive user reviews before i consider them again. I wanted to love this camera for it compact size and functions but it never lived up to my expectations. Hopefully they get it right this time.

Re: Paralenz, New Underwater Optimized Action Camera, Aims at GroPro

Big advantage of this camera, its automatic triggering. It frees the hands from any interfering actions. It's very handy for quick hunting actions, like tuna. That's why I chose this camera. Moreover, fixing it on the side of the head gives a much more natural and dynamic angle of view than a camera fixed on the top of the mask or on the speargun. The quality of the images is also very good. One drawback is that the camera material is aluminium. Rinse it well, otherwise, beware of corrosion of the controls. As for the battery, 2h30 in 1080/100FPS. If you want it to last all day long, you have to manage it by turning it off during breaks or moments without action
