More a tool for profesionals doing underwater whatever (inspection, video recording, etc.) than the average Joe.

Re: Spearing with Underwater drones
Hi Tony,
How long, do you think, before we get to the stage where someone fits a spear of some sort to an underwater drone? Possibly a small powerhead or a slip-tip fitted to a surface float? I am not sure if its been done yet and I hope it still takes some time for it to happen. But I am sure it is going to happen. Just do not know how far in the future it will be? The price of those drones is now well within the reach of some fishing public. A bit more development and spearfishing with them will be possible. Should it be controlled/banned such as spearing on re-breathers? It could even throw more of a strain on our limited resources. My mind boggles on the possibilities and not quite liking where my boggling goes. BTW Is hunting with conventional drones being done anywhere? I must google that. Regards, Mike. |

Re: Check out the specs of the Titan underwater drone
The advertised price is $2600 US. That is not a deal breaker for live viewing 400' for whatever reason. The real issue is how it will deal with current at depth. The tether will be the weak link as well as a limiting factor in high to moderate currents.

But I totally wish I had one of these. Too bad they don't have a good wireless video & control protocol that will transmit thru water.
