Was your dive buddy new to spearing? Looks like he did a lot of standing on the bottom and watching you shoot fish. Can hear the dolphins pinging in your video.

He is 17. My first time diving with him. His dad and him dive together routinely. They are also avid land hunters. We discussed a few things after the dive. Buoyancy was one of them. That's the good part about diving with others, you can hear a different perspective.
