Today's Conditions Near Crystal Cove

Today I went our early this morning to spear near crystal cove. Vis was crap and the ocean was choppy. Baby seal snuck up on me and scared the piss out of me lol. Ran into Newport 54 from this site and one of his buddies. Had a good time even though we couldn't see anything.

Also used the Mako Yamamoto 5mm wetsuit for the first time today and absolutely loved it. It kept me so warm to the point to where I had to let some water in to cool myself down. Very comfortable and a very reasonable price. I am not a big guy either at 5'9 140 and the ML size fit me like a glove. Would totally recommend!!!

Today's conditions were not all that great with viz maybe pushing 15ft in some places, but around 10ft 99% of the time. There was also a pretty noticeable surge that kicked up all the sediment making the viz even worse in some places. There were some dolphins out there this morning so that made up for the conditions

J_Murphy - I'm wanting to dive Crystal Cove today / Tomorrow despite the recent swell. You plan on jumping in? I'm from RI and I'm only in town for this weekend. I brought all my own gear but I'm looking for some guidance for a shore dive.

Todays conditions were iffy with viz at 10ft and up to 15ft in some areas. The was was super choppy today and the surf was pretty big

I plan on going out tomorrow Morning and Sunday. Reef point.
Hopefully conditions better and the surf die down a bit.

going out tomorrow just to freedive at shaws cove in laguna so I will let you know how that turns out

I'll probably do a dive maybe wednesday around high tide, noon time. I'll be by myself, so let me know if anyone wants to head out as well.

Just went out today to abalone point. Vis was bad on the way out. At the kelp vis was about 7-10, clearer on the bottom. It was a rough day for me, but my partner was fine. The wind swell was pretty bad and it was choppy the whole time.

I also noticed there was a lot more kelp than I remember seeing the last time I came out here a few months ago.

I hit up south laguna today and the viz actually was not that bad...about 10-15ft in some spots..I went around 1 when it was high tide..The south swell is supposed to hit on sunday so Im guessing that the viz will be pretty shitty then but hey, I might be wrong

As for tomorrow I think it should be pretty much the same so I might drop the spear for a day and go to shaws cove for a little underwater scenic observation..If anyone goes out on sunday or monday please post up how it was
