Removed approximately 120 lbs of invasive species from the Columbia yesterday.

Instead of Invasive Species they are better referred to as Introduced Species. They didn't invade, they were introduced by humans. It looks like you had fun in any case.

I did a trip down the Colorado recently looking for stripers but man, you could spend all day target practice with the carp. It was almost too easy, I wouldn't shoot 90% of them since they'd run right up on us.

The carp on any body of the Colorado are of the Dumber and Dumber variety. Come to Lake Pleasant in AZ and fill a stringer. These carp are very elusive and really push you to be at the ready. Yes they get dumb just like the smartest of fish, but they really are tough to hunt.

Yeh, for some reason this summer I'm running into all sorts of big carp that aren't fleeing from me in my favorite Minnesota lakes. In the past I've really had to work at it to get some, but now it's too easy most of the time.
What I find myself doing is searching for really big ones that are a bit wary of me and keeping their distance and then going on the hunt for the perfect shot. All the rest I'm just ignoring- too many to haul out and take home! |
