Are MVD / Huntmaster spearguns reliable?
I'm looking to buy my first gun for shore diving. I'm not looking to spear big fish - just enough to feed me for a day or two each time.
I'm in Australia and there's a local shop selling a 90cm Huntmaster Tasman for $300 AUD. I did a search and apparently Huntmaster is made by MVD? I don't know anything about either. It's either that or: $460 Rob Allen Sparid 100cm $225 Salvimar Pulse 85cm $500 Secondhand Rob Allen Tuna Pro 120cm (might be overkill for me as a first gun?) The thing is that I'm only in Australia for 3 months, and might not even take the gun with me when I leave. |

MVD made those guns for them, but they say more of the parts are made locally now after importing the equipment to do so. Just how much I don't know. The grip handle is similar to the Avatar and an Ermes Sub roller trigger mechanism is available for it, you can see the two of them here.

Yes they are.
